How to nail an award entry
Over the past decade, we’ve written our fair share of award entries – not just for ourselves, but our clients too. Earlier this year, we were proud to play a part in supporting Connetics with their award-winning entries to the HRD and HRNZ awards.
Writing them can take up a fair wack of time, but, done well, they can significantly enhance a company’s reputation and visibility, while celebrating staff achievements. To help you out with your next entry, check out our top award writing tips below, or, give us a bell! We’re always here when you need us.
Start out strong – hook the judges in with a compelling opening that sets the stage for why your project deserves the award. Whether you’ve created an innovative solution, made an incredible impact, or worked to overcome challenges, make it clear right from the beginning.
When it comes to answering the questions, make sure you provide direct responses. Be specific and use examples. Points are often awarded for ticking the right boxes, so don’t be tempted to circumvent the question. It won’t earn you any favours from the judges.
Don't hold back on the numbers—metrics and data are the by far the best way to make your entry shine. Judges need to see tangible results. If you’re working to a tight word count, consider using bullet points to get straight to the point.
