One for the wāhine – a century of tradition meets modern storytelling

NZ Young Farmers has been a part of our rural communities for nearly a century, with the FMG Young Farmer of the Year standing as the most prestigious of farming accolades.

The competition is a battle of wits and grit, showcasing the best young farmers and challenging them with a mix of practical and theoretical tasks. The journey to the Grand Final is arduous, requiring victories at district and regional levels before advancing to the three-day Grand Final.

Great Scott’s support of last year's competition sparked over 350 media reports celebrating young farmers. On a quest to dismantle outdated stereotypes, our work is to position farming as a highly-skilled, innovative and attractive career option.

As a finalist for the PRINZ Best Use of Media Relations Award, we’re proud to have played a role in shaping the future of agriculture through the power of media.

The 2023 winner, Emma Poole, shows the future is in good hands – as the first ever woman to claim the title, her triumph is inspiring future generations.
